I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Rev. 22:13

Lord Jesus, there is a lot we don’t understand yet, and certain things that are hard to square with what we believe about you and what “oughta-be.” But this we know, rest in, and trust. You get the first and last “word” on everything.

We aren’t living between bookends of chance and possibilities. We live smack-dab between the most glorious of bookends—the bookends of the Garden of Eden and the Garden-world of the New Heaven and New Earth—between you as the one who made all things, and the one who is making all things new—“the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

And you’re not gonna show up at the end of history just to “clean up our messes.” When we finally know your “Omega-ness”—as the consummator of all things, then we’ll fully rejoice in your “Alpha-ness”—in the perfection of things planned before our world began.

Jesus, until that magnificent Day, may your peace rule in our hearts, your beauty fuel our worship, your love shrink our fears, your grace shape our words, your joy be our strength, and your return determine our investments.

Life is so short and you are SO good. It’s makes all the Gospel-sense in the world and eternity, that we’d invest the rest of our days in serving you, not ourselves. Hallelujah, and So Very Amen.
