“He will quiet you with his love.” Zephaniah 3:17
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you. Many of us are quite familiar with disquieted, noisy, restless hearts. Sometimes it comes with the season of life we’re in, sometimes with the size of the mess we’re in, sometimes we have no clue but ample heart-noise. So, on this November Monday, come and quiet our hearts with your love. Calm our chaos and hush our hearts with your steadfast affection and fear-expelling presence.
Help us get still and know afresh that you are God, not god. Not just any “god”—but ruler of things above, on, and under the earth. Sovereign over every crisis, cricket, conflict, and conundrum. As Prince of Peace, please bring us a Fall 2025 big portion of your peace.
Some of us need to be quieted by your love because we have a teenager with a tumor, or a marriage with more meanness than sweetness, or a wound that just won’t heal—whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual. Others are facing transitions not planned for or the cancelation of plans joyfully made months ago. Because we lose our keys, names, and words easier than ever—some of us are wondering if it’s the “A” or “D” word. Quiet us, Jesus.
Because your tomb and cross are empty, and your throne has never been more joyfully occupied, we don’t doubt your love, Jesus—maybe just your sense of timing. But you have an awesome history and habit of doing everything “in the fullness of time” (Gal.4:4, 1Pet.5:6-7, Rom.5:6, Heb.4:16). So, we rest our case and will seek to rest in your love. Quiet us, Jesus—today and every day this week. So Very Amen.
