Jesus Thoughts

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

saying, “What do you think about the Christ?” Matt. 22:41–42

Dear Jesus, the question you directed to Pharisees, keep before us: “What do you think about the Christ?” There’s no more important question for us to wrestle with in life.

Continue to free us from the wrong notions we have about you, Jesus. Those generated by our fallen hearts, and the ones the king of darkness planted; and others we absorbed through bad or incomplete teaching.

So what DO we think about you today, Jesus? You are everlasting God, and we are mere people. We would despair if you were anything less, and we’re weary of trying to be more. You are the Creator, Sustainer, and Restorer of all things. You care about everything you have made, and are making all things new.

You are the second Adam—our substitute in life and in death. You lived a life of perfect obedience for us, and you exhausted God’s judgment that stood against us. By you, we have been completely forgiven, and in you, we have received perfect righteousness.

We humbly, and gladly, stake our living and dying on you, Jesus. Eternity will be an endless revelation of your glory and grace, and our astonishment and joy.

But, FAR greater than what we think of you, is to realize you are always thinking of us, Jesus. We are perpetually in your heart, on your mind, and in your grasp. You pray for us constantly, and are returning for us joyfully. That is knee-buckling astonishing.

You know us the best, and love us the most, Jesus. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! So very Amen we worship and pray, in your glorious and grace-full name.
