“Of the increase of his (Jesus’) government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.” Isa. 9:7

Lord Jesus, your righteousness is our surety, your love is our freedom, and your sovereignty is our sanity. From the stable of your birth, through your sufferings on the cross, to your sitting at the Father’s right hand… you have loved and cared for us. And we are SO ready for the fulfillment of everything this one verse in Isaiah anticipates.

Your first coming was awesome; but your second will be “awesome on steroids.” You are already enthroned as “ruler of kings on earth” (Rev. 1:5). King David’s throne is a “throne of grace” (Heb. 4:16), from which you rule the world with your truth and grace. Hallelujah! But when you return… “Oh-blessed-my” … you will finish making all things new, eradicate all things evil, mend all things broken, wipe every painful tear, and usher in all things gloriously perfect.

Jesus, forgive us and help us. For we get impatient with your timing, are weary of the waiting, and are exhausted by all the fighting—literally, everywhere. We deeply crave the Day when lions and lambs will frolic with each other; trees and mountains will clap and sing; and your entire every-nation-Bride will worship you supremely, and love each other extravagantly. Until the Day, free us to show up joyfully, love boldly, and hope patiently. So Very, Very, Very Amen.
