May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. 2 Thess. 3:5

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. 2 Thess. 2:16-17

May the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thess. 3:16

Heavenly Father, meditating on these passages is like savoring the finest dark chocolate ever created. These verses are filled with profound goodness and peace-igniting hope.

If we pay attention to it, the GPS of the gospel will always direct our hearts into more of your love and “Christ’s perseverance.” There is SO much more of your love to discover. And we will persevere and overcome all the way Home because you have hidden our lives in the great Overcomer, Jesus. Your grace, not our grit, will deliver us safely to heaven.

In fact, nothing we can do can increase or diminish your love for us on this August Sunday. This doesn’t mean you’re indifferent to the ways we love poorly. Rather it means you really have made Jesus our righteousness. This frees us to repent with joy, and live more honestly among our friends.

Thank you for never being shocked or embarrassed by our fears, weaknesses, and struggles. As you have promised, so we will trust you for “peace at all times and in every situation” (2 Thess. 3:16). Guard our hearts with your Spirit, balance our stumbles with your hand, and calm our storms with your presence.

May your mercy, comfort, and encouragement run like a stream of kindness through us to others. Grant us words of hope for friends in various stages of weariness, stress, and struggle. So very Amen we pray, in the ever-kind, ever-powerful name of Jesus.
