Deep Peace in Our Minds, Hearts, and “Gut”

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isa. 54:10

Heavenly Father, we live in a vulnerable world as vulnerable people. Nothing seems overly stable and secure. Fewer things get a chance at becoming vintage. The environment quakes. Relationships get messy. World news is often bad news. Health crises abound. Financial pressures mount… and the list goes on.

BUT… there is one glorious exception. One thing we can absolutely count on—one reality beyond all shaking and shifting, free from all atrophy and aging. One magnificent gift that escapes every possibility of diminishment and decay, violation and termination. And that is your unfailing, unwavering, “can’t-earn-it-or-exhaust-it” love for us in Jesus.

Because of the Gospel of your grace, what you think about us is not in doubt or up for grabs. You love us as much as you love Jesus, for Jesus is our “righteousness, holiness, and redemption” (1 Cor. 1:30). You maintain a constant disposition of compassion towards us, delight in us, and rejoicing over us (Zeph. 3:17).

We have peace with you because you made peace with us—a covenant of peace established once and for all. We have peace in our minds, hearts, and “gut” because Jesus is our peace (Eph. 2:4).

Father, when it’s your Word versus our fears, anxieties, skewed perspective, and limited knowing… your Word wins “hands down.” When things are shaky and shaking, you are in control and you love us. That is enough to send our hands straight up in worship and praise. So may it be, So VERY Amen!!!
