Our Care-Catching Burden-Bearing Father

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Phil. 4:6-8

Heavenly Father, thank you for catching every care we cast in your direction, taking every burden we offload onto your heart, and for welcoming all the heartache we lay at your feet.

Fill our hearts with a fresh vision of Jesus’ empty tomb, your occupied throne, and our future of all-things-new. Along with the things that greatly vex us in our country right now, we all have stories, pains, and challenges for which your grace alone is sufficient.

In response to Paul’s admonition, we praise you for what you’ve already done. You’ve given us Jesus—who is our righteousness, holiness, and redemption; our loving Bridegroom, constant Advocate, and returning King. No matter what else is going on in the world and our stories, we say with confidence, joy, and peace…  Jesus is Lord.

7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

We gladly receive the promise and provision of your peace, Father. We know your timing is perfect and your ways are incomparable. Guard our vulnerable, wandering, impatient hearts with a greater measure of your peace, wisdom, and kindness.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

By faith, we now set our mind, affections and gaze on the Lord Jesus—the author and perfecter of our faith, our merciful Savior and mighty Lord, the fountain of grace and the ground of all hope. For Jesus is the most true and honorable, right and pure, lovely and admirable One in all space and time. Thank you Father, for your sovereignty and Son. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ tender and triumphant name.
