Aching to the Point of Impatience for All the “Good Stuff”

“Jesus is already the ruler of the kings of the earth” (Rev.1:5); and at the right time, God will bring everything together under the authority of Christeverything in heaven and on earth will be summed up and united in Jesus.” (pp Eph.1:9-10)
“Of the increase of Jesus’ government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom—bringing to fruition all the justice and righteousness God promised to his first shepherd-king, David. God zealously guarantees this will happen.” (pp Isa. 9:7)
Lord Jesus, your righteousness is our surety, your love is our freedom, and your sovereignty is our sanity. In the humility of the stable, through your unimaginable sufferings, by the power of your resurrection and ascension—you have made it gloriously clear that you are the “Yes” to every promise God has made (2Cor.1:30).
We rejoice in what you accomplished by your first coming, but we ache for the “everything” of your second coming. We’re so grateful to know that heavenly decrees—not political doings or evil’s schemes, determine the future. Hallelujah! Nothing can derail, deter, or distract you from bringing to completion your good work of redemption and restoration.
Jesus, forgive us when we get impatient with your timing, prefer to live by sight not by faith, and would, indeed, rather be the potter than the clay. We’ve never been more eager for wolves and lambs to be friends (Isa.11:6). But much more so for there to be no more cancer, war, death, illness of any kind or unkindness of any sort. Come fill the earth with your glory, Jesus. Until then fill our hearts with your grace. So VeryAmen.
