Despite rapid global urbanization, many millions around the world continue to live in small towns and rural areas. God is calling some of us to live and minister in these places. More than that, he’s calling us to love small places, to see them as simultaneously more delightful and more desperately needy than our wider culture does. A whole life given to a forgotten, out-of-the way place doesn’t need to be a second-best option, a stepping-stone to greater things, or a waste. Instead, it can be a picture of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you’re moving toward ministry, we’re eager for you to open yourself to the possibility that God may call you to a small place. If you’re currently in small-place ministry, we long for you to be encouraged. v
