Thanks be to you,
O Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits which you have given us;
for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us.

O most merciful redeemer,
friend and brother,
may we know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly,
for your own sake.

This prayer is wonderful but it does sound awfully like a song out of “Jesus Christ – Superstar”. I loved that song!
Yeah, that is my daily prayer to know Jesus Christ more clearly, dearly, and nearly. The way I personally do that is by studying the red letters in the Gospels and to discuss them with fellow Christians and non-Christians.

  2. RJ says:

Actually the song was from the Broadway play “Godspell” that ran about the same time.
    Here are the lyrics:

    Day by day
    Day by day
    Oh Dear Lord
    Three things I pray
    To see thee more clearly
    Love thee more dearly
    Follow thee more nearly
    Day by day

Now I can’t get the song out of my head but it is a good one to be stuck there :)
