Jesus’ Reign of Grace and Peace

Of the increase of his (Jesus’) government and of peace there will be no end Isa. 9:7

Lord Jesus, it’s here again—the day with its own dark branding, “9/11.” Certain days stand out as graphic expressions of the nature of evil, and the need for redemption. September 11, 2001 is on that list.

I’ll never forget what Darlene and I felt, watching the twin towers of the World Trade Center crumble to the earth. It was chilling, frightful, and surreal; and it was Darlene’s birthday.

But even more so, this is a day to remember you, King Jesus, and the glory of your now-and-coming Kingdom. By your life, death, and resurrection, you are fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy. You have come to restore broken things, and make all things new and beautiful. Your reign of grace and peace is expanding, and will never end.

Because of you, Jesus, death has been given a termination notice; terror is terrified, and trauma is traumatized. Indeed, because of you, one Day there will be no more meanness and madness, wars or worries, political bombast, or any kind of bombs. Your every-nation Bride will live in perfect harmony, in the eternal wonder of the new heaven and new earth.

We cry aloud, “Maranatha!” Come, Lord Jesus, come! Until that Day, give us all the mercy, grace, and peace we need to live and love to your glory. So very Amen we pray, in your triumphant and tender name.
