I wish I had a digital photo of the entire family, with all spouses, Jani at the center. But this is the only one I have here on this computer.
But I honor my wife, and for many reasons. Here is just one. In forty years of marriage, I have never seen Jani refuse the will of God. Not that it has always been easy. Of course, it hasn’t been easy. This is real life. But I have never seen Jani conclude in any instance that, no, she will not follow the call of God. She hasn’t even sulked. As a girl, she gave herself in deepest trust to the Lord. And her obedient heart, her cheerful heart, has freed me to follow his call, even into hard places. She is a tested and true soldier of Christ.
For that, and much more, I honor my wife as the most significant person I have ever known. To be her husband is a grace from God. I am convinced he gave me his best in all her generation.
I love and honor my entire family. To me, they are a rich and endless delight, more than they know. I actually feel a little shy around them, they are so impressive to me.
But I do have one gripe. We have a rebel in this family. My son Gavin became Baptistic in his theological convictions. And Jani grew up Baptist. Hmmm.
